Once upon a time, far, far away there lived a wizard. He was twohundredandseventyfive years old - he put a spell on himself to live forever. The only way he could die was if another wizard killed him. He had an owl named Silverwings.

The story begins as once he was performing a very difficult spell. Suddenly a bird cried. The wizard was so shocked that he did something wrong! There was an echoing bang and the sky went dark, lights went out and candled flickered once and also went out. The wizard tried lighting the candles with his magical staff but nothing worked. He muttered something and a light appeared at the tip of the staff. The wizard was fuming. If only the bird would not have cried this would not have happened. He had cast a spell that unleashed monsters and made everything grow dark. It took a while for him to realize that the bird by the window was Silverwings! The wizard had not fed his own owl! The only way he could save the world was with a magic moon stone.

There was only one magic moon stone in existence. The person, who had it, was a totally evil wizard by the name of Crahan. The wizard had no time to loose. He dashed to the closet grabbed some food for his owl and two other jars. Then he dashed to the door and ran out of it – Silverwings followed. The wizard knew the way by heart and went on, and on, and on.

After a week of traveling the wizard halted. A great big monster stepped out of the shadows. It was covered in fur with two gigantic horns sticking out of its head - but it had no face, it only had flames! This was one of the monsters that were unleashed. The wizard sprinkled some powder into the air and pointed his staff at the monster. A huge wave of water splashed into its face. There was a hiss of steam and a clatter. The horns were on the ground and the monster had vanished! “That was easy”, said the wizard and on they went.

After two hours a huge castle came into view. “There it is”, said the wizard. He took out the second jar and sprinkled another powder into the air – everything except the wizard and Silverwings had frozen, so the wizard could easily walk in. He had searched the castle four times when he found a secret passage that led to Crahan’s laboratory.

Crahan’s laboratory was a tiny platform over boiling hot lava, and in the middle stood Crahan himself! He wasn’t frozen as every other living thing on earth – he was able to move! The wizard had done another spell wrong! Now all the wizards could move. Crahan pointed his wand at the wizard. The wizard was blasted off the platform! Suddenly Silverwings flew down and caught the wizard! The wizard pointed his staff at Crahan and blasted him backwards into the lava. “Thanks”, said the wizard to Silverwings and let go. The wizard landed softly on the platform. “I didn’t know you had magical powers Silverwings”, he said amazed. He snatched up the moon stone, ran outside, muttered something and held the moon stone up high into the air. Light began to spread, the monsters vanished, and peace was restored again.
